Workshop “Is gender equality an obstacle for decisions on family formation?”
The workshop “Is gender equality an obstacle for decisions on family formation?” was held on September 24, 2024, at the Institute of Social Sciences. The results of the qualitative research conducted within the eponymous project were presented, followed by a discussion.
In addition to members of the project team, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, the Cabinet of Minister without Portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women, and the economic and political empowerment of women, the Commissioner for Protection of Equality, and members of the scientific and academic community took part in the workshop.
The key topics of the workshop were related to gender equality in partnership and parenting, understanding of gender roles, and compatibility of work and parenting. Barriers that young women and men face today before deciding to get married and have children, and the reasons for delaying them.
The workshop is part of the project “Is gender equality an obstacle for decisions on family formation?” conducted within the internal call of the Institute of Social Sciences SEED Research Grant, financed by SAIGE (Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship) and the World Bank.
