Commemoration for Dragomir Pantić – Remembering the Man Who Safeguarded the Institute

A commemoration was held following the death of our colleague and friend, Dragomir Pantić, former Head of the Centre for Political Science Research and Public Opinion and Director of the Institute of Social Sciences. The commemoration was an opportunity to highlight his significant professional contribution to the social sciences, as well as his personal and collegial qualities that left a profound mark on the life of the Institute.

The speakers were Zoran Lutovac and Irena Ristić from the Institute of Social Sciences, Zoran Pavlović from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, and Marta Sjeničić, Acting Director of the Institute of Social Sciences.

The speakers reflected on his professional contribution to the social sciences, particularly in the fields of social psychology, public opinion research, political culture and values. Particular emphasis was placed on his skilful and wise leadership of the Institute during its most difficult period, from 1989 to 2002, when the dignity, professional integrity and tradition of this prestigious scientific institution were preserved.

All the speakers also highlighted his qualities as a person and colleague who knew how to communicate with people in the best possible way and contribute to a positive atmosphere at the Institute. The Institute was experienced by all as their own home, and they worked there with motivation and great satisfaction.

The memory of Dragomir Pantić is therefore not only the memory of a distinguished scholar and leader, but also of a person and colleague whose attitude towards people and work left a lasting mark on the life of the Institute of Social Sciences.
