The Roundtable “Current issues of Medical law – Theory, Practice and Legislation 4” was held on April 21, 2022. in cooperation with the Institute of Social Sciences, the Centре for Legal Research, on the one hand, and the Bar Association of Vojvodina, the Journal of Legal theory and practice of BAV, on the other hand.
The participants of the Roundtable presented their research, emphasizing all the legal issues concerning the importance of information in the health care system. The event took place in two thematic units: 1) Health Care system – information and informing, 2) Health Care system – current topics – current issues. A total of twelve grouped topics were presented.
The first panel was dedicated to the importance of information in the context of the application of innovative technologies in health care. In this regard, the traditional institutes of medical law, such as the informed patient consent (informed consent),, and the importance of information in primary health care through the relationship between the right to information and the right to be notified, as well as increasing applications new technologies as a result of digitization, platformization, and the introduction and application of artificial intelligence in health care, were considered.
The second panel highlighted and analyzed current health care issues that are primarily focused on patients’ rights. In this regard, using a holistic approach, the role and position of patients suffering from rare diseases was considered, especially in the context of the importance of communication between physicians and patients, and then the treatment of women in gynecological-obstetrical institutions. At last, the issue of realizing the right to health and safety at work in the field of protection against psychosocial risks was analyzed, with special reference to the issue of mental health. The Roundtable completed with the conclusion that is necessary mutual cooperation and linkage between the legal science, practice, as well as relevant authorities with the aim of improving health care, especially in light of the transformation of the health system as a result of digitalization.
