Researchers from the for Centre for Legal Research of the Institute of Social Sciences, in cooperation with the Bar Association of Vojvodina and the The Glasnik of the Bar Association of Vojvodina, gathered experts from various fields of law at the eighth roundtable dedicated to issues of liability, organized under the title “Serbia and the Reform of the Institute of Responsibility 8.”
The event offered a wide range of topics – from compensation for non-material damage and sanctions in the healthcare system, through criminal and environmental liability, to complex questions of contract and media law. The program was structured into two thematic panels: “Legal Sanctions – Theory and Practice” and “Current Issues of Liability – Various Aspects.” Through numerous presentations, the panels illuminated both theoretical and practical aspects of legal sanctions and various forms of liability within the domestic legal system.
The discussions focused on the effectiveness of legal sanctions – their application, practical outcomes, and their role in strengthening legal certainty. Special attention was devoted to contemporary issues such as liability in data processing and the use of artificial intelligence, corporate social responsibility in preserving public health, and defining the legal framework for the right to digital disengagement.
Among the presentations that sparked the most discussion were those addressing the responsibility of legal professionals in the era of artificial intelligence, the position of the right to rebellion within the system of legal liability, media accountability for misogynistic hate speech during protests, and the legal responsibility of political officeholders.
The Book of Abstracts published following the roundtable represents a valuable scientific contribution and a basis for further research and reform initiatives in the field of the institute of liability.
