The main topic of the regional scientific meeting, New Directions in the Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science, is how the methodologies and theories of modern philosophy of mind can be connected to the cognitive science of consciousness and cognition. The conference will be held September 26-27, 2025, in the IDN.
Will discoveries in neuroscience bring the final answer to the mystery of the origin of consciousness? Are computational models an adequate methodology for understanding the human brain and mind, and if so, which computational models exactly? Our gathering will provide a comfortable environment for discussing these topics and possibly provide some answers to these problems from the perspective of contemporary philosophy of mind and cognitive science.
The Institute of Social Sciences and the Institute of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade, with the support of the Association for Philosophy and History of Science Episteme, organised the meeting.
