Nenа Vasojević‘s book, “International academic mobility in Serbia: From the idea of the driver of modern society to the globalization of education,” is the result of many years of work on studying the phenomenon of Serbian students (scholarships) abroad, as well as international scholarship students at Serbian universities.
PhD Vasojević tried to follow the new findings related to the education of international students over a period of time to generate and connect them with the history of educational diplomacy in Serbia. They are depicted and presented within the framework of the functioning of the then ministries, the government, that is, the issuance of scholarships and programs (cooperation) over time periods. The author is particularly concerned with determining the key legal regulations and factors that influenced the formation of the educational elite. Also, the political, diplomatic, and other implications that this model of schooling brings are considered. By researching the population of international students from the perspective of the Serbian context, previous scientific knowledge about the population of Serbian students (scholars holder) who studied at foreign universities, as well as foreign students (scholars holder) who studied at Serbian universities, was improved.
