Two decades after the “Health in All Policies” approach was formulated within the European Union, the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade, in partnership with the Vojvodina Bar Association and Erasmus University Rotterdam, is organizing an international conference dedicated to reassessing its scope, challenges, and legal implications, with a particular focus on medical law and public health in the post-pandemic context.
The conference Health in All Policies – 20 Years Later will be held in a hybrid format, both at the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade and online. The working language of the conference is English, and participation is free of charge.
The conference will address a wide range of topics in the field of medical law, with particular emphasis on its intersections with other branches of law, including environmental law, labour law, social security law, personal data protection, and the legal aspects of digitalisation. Drawing on the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will also explore the concept of “One Health”, an integrated approach promoted by the World Health Organization aimed at balancing and improving the health of humans, animals, and ecosystems.
The programme of the conference is structured in two parts, and participants are invited to focus on the following themes:
- National and international responses to the European Union’s “Health in All Policies” initiative over the past 20 years (first part of the conference);
- Current issues in medical law and public health, in the form of the seventh traditional Round Table (second part of the conference).
The call for participation is open to researchers and professionals from relevant fields. The deadline for the submission of abstracts in English (up to 500 words) is 10 February 2026. Abstracts should be sent to the following email addresses: msjenicic@idn.org.rs and snikolic@idn.org.rs.
Authors will be informed of the results of the abstract review by 24 February 2026. The deadline for registration and for indicating the preferred mode of participation (in person or online) is 1 March 2026.
As an outcome of the conference, a book of abstracts will be published in English, in both electronic and printed form.
