Roundtable „Current medical law – theory, practice and legislation 6“

Researchers from the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade, Center for Legal Research, in cooperation with the Bar Association of Vojvodina, the Gazette of the AKV, held a Roundtable on legal issues in healthcare on April 11, 2025 under the title – “Current Medical Law – Theory, Practice and Legislation 6”.

The roundtable took place traditionally in two panels: 1) Health and Environmental Standards and 2) Current Issues on Other Health Topics. A total of seventeen topics were submitted, of which the following are dedicated to ecology: the negative effects of artificial fertilizers use, environmental pollution by civil aviation, forest management from the perspective of environmental medicine, the practice of the European Court of Human Rights on environmental and health issues, the right to a healthy environment, environmental rights of the child, environmental and health consequences of armed conflicts, protection of the environment and human health, compensation for non-material damages as a result of violation of personal rights due to environmental pollution.

In the second panel of the meeting, space was given for consideration of various issues on the topic of current medical law, as chosen by the lecturer, such as: the application of the lost chance theory, consideration of the WHO Pandemic Agreement, reimbursement of treatment costs, legal and ethical dilemmas for using of artificial intelligence in the treatment of people with mental disabilities, the effects of possession control firearms on public health, “Vouk” culture and health care, digital counseling in the field of mental health, the medical importance of protection against abuse at work. The meeting adopted appropriate conclusions. The purpose of the meeting was to include issues of preventive measures aimed at reducing harmful effects on health, care for the environment, and considering the extent to which national regulations are harmonized with current standards in comparative and international law. Abstracts from the held roundtable are published in the book of abstracts.
