Cooperation between the IDN, citizens, and the city administration of Novi Pazar

Novi Pazar represents an example of an economically and socially dynamic community striving to enhance its institutional environment for the benefit of its citizens. The development of modern technologies and the application of innovative tools in public administration can significantly improve service delivery, access to rights, and the efficient use of existing—yet underutilized—social and economic resources.

During a meeting between the President of the City Assembly, Mr. Samir Lakić, and the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences, Dr. Goran Bašić, together with the Head of the IDS Project Office, Ms. Maja Anđelković, a constructive discussion was opened on the possibilities for cooperation in areas that could contribute to evidence-based policymaking, improved citizen engagement, and better performance of local self-government, as well as the development of neglected economic potentials.

In the coming period, the IDN expert team will hold consultations with representatives of the local government, business sector, and citizens in order to propose a model of sustainable support for the further institutional and social development of the city.

At the same time, IDN researchers conducted a focus group in Novi Pazar as part of the study “Social Distance of Ethnic Communities in Serbia.”
