Organized by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Institute of Social Sciences, with the participation of numerous experts from the country and the region, a roundtable on “Cultural Autonomy and Minority Self-Government” was held on October 30th and 31st.
The event was thematically divided into four parts. The first three sessions took place on the first day at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), during which theoretical aspects and challenges of achieving cultural autonomy in multi-ethnic societies were discussed, along with comparative experiences from countries in the region, including Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, and Hungary. A special session focused on the experiences of minority self-governments in Serbia. The roundtable continued the next day at the Great Hall of the Institute of Social Sciences, where participants had the opportunity to discuss the collection of ethnically sensitive data for the purpose of assessing and improving the effects of minority policies.
