In recent years, the fashion industry has increasingly come under the attention of the public and the scientific community due to its significant negative impacts on the environment and society. Particular focus is placed on the phenomenon of fast fashion, characterized by frequent launches of new collections, mass production, and the short lifespan of garments, resulting in large amounts of textile waste and long-term pollution. Sustainable consumer behavior in the domain of clothing, with a special focus on the determinants, barriers, and modalities influencing responsible consumption, will be the topic of a lecture by Tamara Rajić.
The lecture will examine the determinants and barriers of sustainable clothing practices, as well as the various modalities that can promote more responsible consumption patterns in the fashion industry. Special attention will be given to the challenges that fast fashion poses to society and the environment, as well as to current regulatory initiatives aimed at developing a circular economy and promoting sustainable practices in the fashion and textile sector.
The lecture by Tamara Rajić, Research Associate at the Center for Economic Research, is organized as part of the lecture series introducing newly appointed colleagues at the Institute of Social Sciences.
