The presentation of two new issues of the scholarly journal Religion and Tolerance, jointly published since 2023 by the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade and the Center for Empirical Research of Religion in Novi Sad, also provided an opportunity to reflect on the journal’s editorial policy, achievements to date, and directions for its further development.
On this occasion, issues 43 and 44 were presented, and the journal’s content, development, and academic status were discussed by the editors, Prof. Dr. Zorica Kuburić and Dr. Mirko Blagojević, the journal’s secretary, MA Ljiljana Ćumura, as well as by authors whose articles were published in these issues.
The editors recalled that the journal has been published since 2002, emphasizing that in recent years it has achieved significant progress, which, among other outcomes, resulted in its classification in the M51 category, denoting a journal of national importance.
Special attention was drawn to the increasing number of international authors from various European countries and the wider region, as well as to the growing share of articles published in English, which contributes to the journal’s greater international visibility and citation potential.
Religion and Tolerance is an interdisciplinary journal that publishes research articles, thematic contributions, and analyses of religious phenomena from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives. The published works address religious practices and faith communities across different confessional traditions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and other religious traditions.
The journal features contributions by both well-established scholars in the field of religious studies and related disciplines, as well as early-career researchers at the beginning of their academic paths. This combination of experience and new research perspectives is recognized as one of the journal’s key strengths and an indicator of its continued development and relevance in the contemporary academic context.
