The application of artificial intelligence in the system of public administration is increasingly becoming a key topic in the process of modernizing public services and improving data management. At the round table “Artificial Intelligence in the System of Public Administration”, held within the framework of the international scientific conference “Social Aspects of the Application of Artificial Intelligence and Transhumanism”, experts and key stakeholders from various sectors discussed the challenges, opportunities, and ethical frameworks for the implementation of new technologies—particularly artificial intelligence—in Serbia’s public sector.
Participants at the roundtable included representatives from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, the Ministry of Economy, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Positive d.o.o, as well as Dragana Stojanović, representative of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance. During the discussion, participants focused on several key topics:
The discussion covered a number of particularly important topics, including:
- presentation of the concept of the Artificial Intelligence Law and the institutional framework, including dilemmas and open questions.
- harmonization of regulations in accordance with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act and standardization of technical regulations.
- the role of accreditation bodies in the Republic of Serbia and capacities for conformity assessment in the field of artificial intelligence.
- legal and ethical aspects of the use of artificial intelligence systems, including the responsibility of manufacturers and users.
- challenges in the development of artificial intelligence systems and data access.
All participants of the event agreed that a multidisciplinary approach and cooperation between state institutions, the private sector, and the academic community are essential to ensure the successful implementation of artificial intelligence in Serbia.
The conference “Social Aspects of the Application of Artificial Intelligence and Transhumanism” was held on October 23 and 24 with the aim of exploring, presenting, and explaining the impact that this advanced technology has on society as a whole, particularly on culture, art, music, ethics, intellectual property, and the media. The event was organized by the Institute of Social Sciences, with the support of the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia and under the patronage of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation.
