Violence in the school environment in Serbia is a serious social issue that has so far not been sufficiently covered by empirical research. By conducting a comprehensive public opinion survey on education and schools in Serbia, the Institute of Social Sciences, as a scientific institution of special importance for the Republic of Serbia, contributes to a better understanding of this problem.
On this occasion, the Institute is organizing a panel discussion titled “Public Opinion Research: Violence in Schools in Serbia”, where a segment of the research findings will be presented, focusing on violence in the school context.
The research findings will be presented by:
- Dr. Željka Buturović,
- Dr. Suzana Ignjatović,
- Dr. Bojan Todosijević,
- Dr. Nena Vasojević.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion addressing various aspects of school violence, including violence against teachers and students, the tragic event at “Vladislav Ribnikar” Primary School, and the issue of school discipline.
Dr. Zoran Lutovac will serve as the moderator of the discussion, and the discussants will be Prof. Dr. Dragan Popadić and Želimir Popov, former Deputy Minister of Education.
This event represents an important step toward opening a public dialogue and laying the groundwork for the development of effective educational and social policies aimed at preventing violence in schools.
