Sanja Stojković Zlatanović, a research associate at the Institute of Social Sciences, delivered a lecture on The Role and Importance of Trade Union Action in Improving the Socio-Legal Status of Health-Vulnerable Worker Categories – Challenges of Contemporary Law.
The significance of worker associations, particularly trade unions, as well as social non-governmental organizations, in the context of improving the labor rights status of vulnerable worker categories, was identified as particularly challenging. The Republic of Serbia has not yet ratified the Additional Protocol on Collective Complaints (1995) concerning the implementation of the Revised European Social Charter (1996), which has prevented social NGOs, as well as social partners in general, from submitting collective complaints. This issue needs to be addressed in the future. Furthermore, the adoption of the principle of “tripartism plus” as the foundation for social dialogue at the national level is identified as particularly significant and necessary, especially in the current conditions of labor market transformation and changes in labor organizations.
