On Thursday, February 22, a one-day workshop was held for young IDN researchers on the potential of statistical analyzes provided by data, organized by the Western Balkans European Social Survey Regional Network (WBESS) and the Institute of Social Sciences (IDN). from the European Social Survey (ESS).
The aim of the workshop was to familiarize young researchers with the many research areas provided by the ESS. Although the IDN profile is multidisciplinary, encompassing centres in sociology and anthropology, as well as political science, demography, economics, law, and philosophy – the ESS provides vast opportunities to conduct analyzes within each of these fields. The suitability and novelty for local researchers are provided by the availability of data from Serbia since the last round of research was conducted. This made the possibility of performing comparative analyzes with a large number of countries in the region and the whole of Europe, and with Serbia’s participation in the next round of research, it will also be possible to conduct trend analysis in Serbia.
The young researchers assessed the workshop as very useful and expressed great interest in using the data from the ESS, so the possibility of organizing another workshop in the coming period is open.
