On May 23-24, 2024, the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade will host an international scientific conference titled “The Impact of the Quality of Institutions on Sustainable Development”. The significant role of institutions in encouraging economic development is widely recognized and accepted by both science and public policymakers. The conference aims to consider the further directions of sustainable development and the role of institutions in the newly created circumstances when, in addition to the dangers due to climate change and pollution, other forms of crises also occur. The issues would be considered multidisciplinary with the aim of better understanding the causes and finding effective solutions.
Traditionally, the Centre for Economic Research organizes thematic international scientific conferences with partner scientific institutions from the region. The two-day conference, organized by the Centre for Economic Research of the Institute of Social Sciences, the Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research (ISPPI), University “ss. Cyrli and Methodius”, Skopje and the Faculty of Law University of Zenica, represents the 32nd conference, which should nurture and strengthen the connection between the Institute of Social Sciences and Centre for economic research with scientific institutions from the region.
The international scientific conference will bring together researchers from Serbia, the region (Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia) and Europe (Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Austria) who will participate in the following thematic units: the role of institutions in achieving the goals of economic development and protection environment, state capture, corruption and development, good governance to more efficient institutions, polycrisis in Europe and influence on the Western Balkans, green transition and institutions.
