Young researchers from the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS) had a team building in Borkovac, 20-21 May 2021, organized by ISS. Two-day workshops were held during the team building. The main goal of these workshops was to provide support and strengthen the position of young researchers in ISS. One of the strategic goals of ISS is to encourage more intensive cooperation among young researchers, strengthen the overall potentials and capacities of both young researchers individually and the Institute as a research institution and finally strengthen the entire research infrastructure in social sciences and humanities in Serbia. The Institute of Social Sciences currently employs 15 young researchers out of a total of 52 researchers, which makes up almost a third of the staff. The development of competitions of young researchers for the application of the results of scientific research work is recognized as one strategic goal. A maintenance workshop is just one step in improving labor strategy by 2030 and finding a way how to engage young researchers in a real and meaningful way. This process is a response to changes in the scientific system of Serbia that are based on the promotion of open science, competitiveness, sustainable development, and excellence in science.
The result of the group work in workshops is a Platform for the development of young researchers of the Institute of Social Sciences and determined action plan for the next six months.
The young researchers assessed the workshop as very useful and showed a remarkable level of engagement in the development tasks.
