Sonja Novak Lukanović is the Director of the Institute for Ethnic Studies in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and a full professor at the University of Ljubljana, where she received her PhD degree in 2003, at the Department for Comparative and General Linguistics.
In addition to the University of Ljubljana, Sonja Novak Lukanović also used to teach for a long time at the Institute for Slavic Studies of the University of Graz. She is a member of numerous university bodies. She was also President of the Regional expert group for minority education and a member of the Slovene National Commission for UNESCO.
