Biography

Sanja Filipović is a Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences and a Full Professor at Singidunum University. Her professional affiliation with the Economic Institute spanned 2002–2020, alongside continuous engagement in university teaching since 2008.
One of the editors of the scientific journal Economic Analysis (since 2022) and a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal International Problems (since 2024). Previously served as editor of the scientific journal Industrija (2013–2020). Additionally, co-author of the professional monthly publication Macroeconomic Analyses and Trends (MAT).
She has participated in and/or led more than 80 projects, many of which are of strategic national importance. Selected projects include: “Contributing to Modern Partnerships: Assessments of Sino-EU-Serbian Relations (COMPASS)” (Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, 2023–2025); Industrial Policy Strategy of the Republic of Serbia 2021–2030 with accompanying action plans (Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia); “Enabling the EU through Understanding the Drivers of Individual and Collective Energy Choices in Europe” (EC, Horizon 2020); “Electrical Energy Markets” (European Commission, Erasmus K2); “Public Sector Development” (GIZ); “Sustainable Growth and Employment in Western Balkan Countries” (GIZ, ORF); “Analysis of the Regulatory Framework for Entrepreneurs” (SDA, PEFORM project); “Competitiveness and New Industrial Policy Project” (EC, OECD); “Designing an Industrial Policy Toolkit for the Western Balkans and Turkey” (OECD); “CEFTA Trade Agreement: Elimination of Non-Tariff Barriers” (EC, OECD); “Economic Position of Industrial Sectors and Growth Projections 2011–2020 in the Republic of Serbia” (Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia), among others.
Her publication record includes over 100 articles in leading international and national journals. In addition, she is a co-author of three monographs and the author of the undergraduate textbook Economics.
Scholarships, fellowships, grants
- “Excellence in Science” Award (2026) – Award from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia for being among the top 10% most influential researchers in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020–2024.
- “Excellence in Science” Award (2024) – Award from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia for being among the top 10% most influential researchers in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2013–2022.
- University scholarship recipient during undergraduate studies (GPA: 9.95/10.00).
Work in education
- Since 2008, engaged as a university professor at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
- Supervisor of four doctoral dissertations, more than 50 master’s theses, and over 100 undergraduate final theses.
