Lilijana Čičkarić is a Principle research fellow at the Institute for Social Sciences. She teaches on the Master’s Program in Gender Studies at the University of Novi Sad, in the Centre for Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Studies (UCIMSI). She is the recipient of the Andjelka Milić Award for the best academic study published in 2016. She is a co-founder of the research network for the study of gender and politics in Southeast Europe (GenPolSEE), which brings together over 100 eminent researchers from almost all Balkan countries. She is a member of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) and the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE). She has been a visiting researcher at the universities of Oslo and Amsterdam, Queen’s University Belfast, and the London School of Economics and Political Science. As a Fulbright scholar, she was at the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She has published extensively research papers, monographs and articles in leading national and international publications.
She has managed a large number of international projects and sub-projects in the fields of leadership and women’s political representation, social inclusion, sustainable development, participatory governance and gender equality.
Currently she is the leader of the Societal Readiness Pilot within HORIZON EUROPE Research and Innovation SE-HYDRO Project (Grant Agreement No. 101269565), which has received funding from the European Commission (2026-2029).
