Dr. Zorica Mršević, a Principal Research Fellow, and Svetlana Janković, magister of sciences in the field of defence and security, retired lieutenant colonel and doctoral student at the Faculty of Engineering Management, held an online lecture on inclusive security on 14 April 2021.
The lecture focused on the inclusive security, a concept that enables women and members of different national and other minority groups to be included in the security sector without discrimination. The reason for the introduction of inclusive security is the rational perception of the interests of countries with a diversified population faced with modern security risks. The lecturers presented the chronological development of inclusive security with a comparison of security challenges and resource analysis. The modern tasks of the security forces have expanded to protect civilians and refugees, distribute humanitarian aid and prevent crime. Inclusive security is of particular importance in protecting against the consequences of natural disasters. It has be proven that the process of women’s inclusion in this sector is important for the whole society, as well as for expanding professional opportunities for women in all domains. Development of inclusive security, introduction of security culture, hybrid warfare and new experiences imposed on society by the current pandemic are topics that deserve the attention of researchers, including from the perspective of gender theory.
The event was held as a part of the lecture series “New Views, Perspectives and Research on Gender Theory”, the Study Research Group for Gender Equality and Public Policy of the Institute of Social Sciences.
