The international scientific conference “Population and Environment: Challenges and Perspectives”, held at the Madlena Art Palace, brought together experts from various fields, such as demography, ecology, economics, geography, medicine, spatial planning, and public policy – with a common goal of deepening the understanding of the interrelations between demographic trends and environmental conditions, as well as contributing, through interdisciplinary dialogue, to the development of sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges.
The conference provided an opportunity to examine, through a series of presentations and discussions, the mutual influences of population changes and environmental factors, with particular emphasis on sustainable development, climate change, and public policies that connect the demographic and ecological dimensions of social development.
The conference was organized by the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, in cooperation with the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, the Faculty of Economics, and the Institute of Social Sciences, with the support of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.
The participation of the Institute of Social Sciences in this event represents a continuation of its commitment to interdisciplinary research and international cooperation in studying the complex links between population, the environment, and sustainable development.
