The Institute of Social Sciences (IDN) is the only national contractor in Serbia for FRANET, the multi-disciplinary research network of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). FRANET is composed of contractors in each EU Member State and the candidate countries Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia. These contractors provide, upon request, data and information to FRA on a range of fundamental rights issues to facilitate the FRA’s comparative analyses.
As national contractor, IDN periodically produces state of the art overviews of the human rights situation in Serbia in relation to a variety of topics, thereby helping the FRA monitor the protection of human rights in Serbia. The main topics covered in this context are: fundamental rights issues; civic space, meaningful participation and the rights to freedom of association, peaceful assembly and expression; vulnerabilities of persons affected by the rising costs of living; access to justice; asylum, migration & borders; gender; hate crime; persons with disabilities; LGBTI; racism and related intolerances; Roma rights etc.
