European Commission (Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers) entrusted the Consortium of 9 Slovene and Serbian institutions with the implementation of the three-year project (2019-2022) entitled:„Respect of Diversity as a Cornerstone for Integration of the Roma through Employment – the Case of Slovenia and Serbia“(no. 848948). The general aim of the project was to combat discrimination against the Roma, with the emphasis on labor market, thus contributing to the integration of the Roma into the wider societies of Slovenia and Serbia.
The conclusion of the project was marked with a closing conference held in Belgrade on 1 July 2022, and attended by representatives of Serbian and Slovene authorities, NGOs and other interested parties. This represented a good opportunity to discuss this problem on a high level, while it was planned for some of the project results, i.e. all the guidelines, conclusions and solutions for the employment of the Roma community members, to be forwarded to the decision-makers in the EU.
