Academician Ljubomir Tadić is one of the most significant researchers, creators and authors in the field of social sciences both in Serbia and the Balkans, whose creation during the twentieth century coincides with the foundation of modern social sciences in Serbia and the Balkans, so considering the fact that this year marks the hundredth anniversary of his birth, the Institute of Social Sciences organizes a scientific conference dedicated to academician Tadić under the name Ljubomir Tadić and the foundation of social sciences in Serbia and the Balkans.
The Institute of Social Sciences is the right place to hold this meeting, both in a symbolic and an essential sense, because Ljubomir Tadić spent a significant part of his working life at the Institute of Social Sciences, but also because the Institute of Social Sciences is the only scientific institute in Serbia where different social sciences are systematically researched and, accordingly, there are different institute centers for their research (centers for sociological and anthropological research, philosophical research, legal research, political science research and public opinion, economic research and demographic research), many of which individually research those disciplines of the humanities that academician Tadić dealt with and only together outline the real wealth of research interest of academician Ljubomir Tadić, who was simultaneously a philosopher and sociologist, political scientist and legal thinker.
Therefore, the sub-topics of this scientific meeting will try to outline different aspects of academician Ljubomir Tadić’s research interests, and different sessions of this scientific meeting will be dedicated to the contributions of academician Tadić to different social sciences and their disciplines.
The first session of the meeting will be entitled Ljubomir Tadić as a political scientist and will be dedicated to Tadić’s founding of the modern political science in Serbia, which is the area in which he made the greatest and decisive contribution.
The second session of the gathering will be entitled Ljubomir Tadić as a philosopher, shedding light on the area of Tadić’s research that was his personal favorite, as evidenced by the fact that towards the end of his life he turned to pondering the deep philosophical problems of human existence.
The third session of the gathering will be titled Ljubomir Tadić as a sociologist, paying attention to that aspect of his creation that explored the laws of human society through the works of significant world sociologists.
The fourth session of the conference will be entitled Ljubomir Tadić as a theorist of law and it will deal with Tadić as one of the founders of the philosophy of law in Serbia, who wrote some of the pioneering works in this field
In the fifth and last session of the conference will bear the name Ljubomir Tadić as a personality, we will try to draw conclusions about the relevance of Tadić’s work today, not only in an intellectual sense, but perhaps more in an ethical and moral sense, because he testified his work with his own life, standing upright and dignified in different social and political circumstances, not violating the rules of the profession, nor the basic human morality, testifying that there is no significant work in the social sciences without a person with significant capacities not only intellectually, but also ethically and morally.
