The international conference “Society and Structural Violence”, has been postponed. The new date will be announced later.
Structural violence can manifest in diverse forms, and the conference’s objective is to concentrate on specific systemic challenges influenced by institutional functionality, distinct characteristics of political culture, patriarchy, and broader economic issues that contribute to the emergence, amplification, and at times normalization of violence within society.
Namely, the conference will focus on addressing the problem of escalation of violence and coercion as means and strategies for solving contemporary crises and conflicts:
- the relationship between social crisis, social anomie, and violence
- armed conflicts, social status of refugees and internally displaced persons in war
- state violence, institutional violence, and human rights
- corruption and organized crime as sources of violence
- culture of violence, political culture
- media and violence
- discrimination and violence, gender-based violence
- poverty, social equality, and violence
The conference is not limited thematically to these areas but focuses on topics directed to the in-depth study of the mechanisms of generating structural violence. We would be particularly interested in presentations that connect the above topics.
The application deadline is extended to August 1 2024.
