On April 19th and 20th, 2024, Belgrade will host a significant international scientific conference titled “Population in Post-Yugoslav Countries: (Dis)similarities and Perspectives”. This event, organized by the Association of Demographers of Serbia in collaboration with the Demographic Research Center of the Institute of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Geography at the University of Belgrade, marks the third conference of its kind. It aims to delve into the intricate themes of demographic processes within the post-Yugoslav region.

The conference will be held at the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade, located at Kraljice Natalije 45. Due to high interest, the conference has been expanded to cover two days. This extension will enable a broader range of topics and discussions, further enriching the experience for participants. Key themes include long-term demographic processes in the former Yugoslavia, regional and European demographic challenges, new methodological approaches and data quality in demographic research, as well as demography and public policy.

Participants from various academic and scientific institutions are expected, not only from Serbia but from neighboring countries as well. The conference will serve as a platform for knowledge and idea exchange among esteemed experts in the field of demography.
