The Roundtable “Current issues of Medical law – Theory, Practice and Legislation 3” was held on April 15, 2022. in cooperation with the Institute of Social Sciences, the Center for Legal Research, on the one hand, and the Bar Association of Vojvodina, the Journal of Legal theory and practice of BAV, on the other hand. The meeting was held in a mixed form, live and via the Zoom platform. The participants of the Roundtable presented their research, emphasizing all the legal issues in the provision of health care during the pandemic and the post-covid period.
The event took place in two thematic units: Current isuess of the Post- Covid-19 pandemic with special reference to the area of Mental Health and Current isuess – Various. A total of twelve grouped topics were presented. The first panel was dedicated to the documents of the World Health Organization, the phenomenon of infodemic, as well as current issues in psychiatric practice as a consequence of the pandemic in terms of access to and provision of health services. The topic of the panel was also dedicated to health protection, health services, strategic approach and compliance with the legislative framework during the pandemic and post-covid period, with reference to the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemics. The second panel highlighted and analyzed the measures taken during the pandemic, such as: quarantine and home isolation, telemedicine, The Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), as a new institution for responding to health crises in the EU. One of the topics of the second panel is dedicated to the controversies of eugenic protection in comparative law.
The conclusion of the meeting pointed out the great importance of the issue of mental health, but also the inconsistency of certain legal solutions in the domestic legal order, the over-regulation and the problems of non-harmonization of regulations during the pandemic. In this regard, the need for mutual cooperation of legal science, practice, as well as relevant bodies with the aim of improving health care, especially in the area of mental health care, was emphasized.
