Workshops held in Republika Srpska

Dr Zorica Mršević, principal research fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, and Jasmina Nikolić, Victims Service coordinator at the Victimology Society of Serbia conducted a series of one-day seminars/workshops “Gender Equality and Family Violence” as part of the project “Increasing Access to Quality Multi-sectoral Services for Victims of Violence against Women and Family Violence at Local Level” of the Gender Centre – Centre for Gender Equity and Equality of Republika Srpska, supported by UNWOMEN. The workshops were held in East Sarajevo on 26, 27, 28 June and 11 and 12 July 2017 and were attended by a total of about 70 representatives of local level institutions, police, judiciary, schools, health centres, social work centres, municipalities and NGOs. The aim of the workshops, consistent with the overall project, is to establish and strengthen local multi-sectoral cooperation in municipalities in the eastern part of Republika Srpska (Višegrad, Zvornik, Bratunac) as well as in East Sarajevo municipalities (East Sarajevo, Pale, Sokolac and Trnovo) in processing family violence and violence against women in accordance with national legislation and the Istanbul Convention.
