Professor Aleksandar Bošković had a lecture at the University of Aberdeen, “Anthropology and Psychoanalysis: Everything you wanted to know about their academic and professional relationship, but were too afraid (or hesitant) to ask.” The presentation outlined developments of sociocultural anthropology and psychoanalysis in the last 120 years, focusing on the shared patterns of their establishment, as well on some key personalities and key concepts. It provoked considerable interest, and members of the audience were especially interested in exploring aspects of Bion’s analysis of groups (selection of pathological leaders), and the ways in which education processes could prevent this from happening.
