Round table "Demographers messages to policy makers in Serbia"
The aim of the Round Table was to present the most significant results of the project titled Researching Demographic Phenomena for the Purpose of Public Policies in Serbia. The project has been implemented since 2011 as part of the Integrative and Interdisciplinary Research Programme financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development. The lead implementing agencies are the Institute of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Geography and Faculty of Organisational Sciences of the University of Belgrade. The project’s distinctive quality is the fact that it relies on the linkages between basic, applied and developmental research. Its outputs, based on theoretical, empirical and comparative reseach, can be used in the process of formulating and implementing policies in various fields, including social, health, education, pension, spatial and regional development. Each of the 17 Project Team members that included demographers, geographers and software engineers sent out a message to policymakers. The Round Table was attended by researchers from various sciences and scientific fields, persons involved in political decision-making, students of master and doctoral studies, as well as media representatives.
